  • CHED Chairman J. Prospero E. De Vera III's statement on the stranded students at Clark International Airport

I have received a report that sixteen (16) BS Tourism and BS Hospitality Management students of Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) are stranded at Clark International Airport because a bus that was supposed to pick them up was not able to travel because of the quarantine restrictions.

Five (5) other ISPSC students have decided to stay in Boracay and are under the care of their host establishment.

The ISPSC and CHED Regional Offices (CHEDROs) 1 and 3 have sent a bus to the Clark International Airport to pick them up and meals to make sure they are well nourished. Nurses have prepared masks for the students and thermal scanners to check the health condition of the students. As a precautionary measure, the students must undertake self-quarantine for 14-days.

The Commission assures the parents of these students that we will do everything necessary to bring them home.

The Commission commends the efforts of our regional offices, and the local governments of Ilocos Sur and Pampanga, and the Philippine National Police for their expedient response so we can bring the students back to their families.
