  • ISPSC completes virtual AACCUP survey, advances continuing quality assurance efforts

    The Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) completed its virtual accreditation survey visit conducted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP), covering selected academic programs across six campuses from September 7 to 11, 2026.

    The five-day virtual survey brought together AACCUP accreditors and ISPSC administrators, faculty members, staff, and concerned offices through online platforms for the assessment of the participating programs. 

    The virtual accreditation survey was conducted by a team of AACCUP accreditors led by Prof. Mark Bency M. Elpedes, Team Leader for the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery; Dr. Gail G. Gumilet, Team Leader for the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education; Prof. Marian G. Arada, Team Leader for the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology; Dr. Hazel D. Samal, Accreditor Team Leader for the Bachelor of Secondary Education; Dr. Mignonette B. Tungcul, Team Leader for the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology; Dr. Rhea A. Quileza, Team Leader for the Bachelor of Secondary Education with majors in Filipino and Social Studies; Prof. Maricel R. Mojica, Team Leader for the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education; Dr. Giovanni C. Morales, Team Leader for the Bachelor of Physical Education; Dr. Raquel O. Abyado, Team Leader for the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Filipino; and Dr. Cherry Love B. Montales, Team Leader for the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies.

    They were joined by AACCUP member accreditors Prof. Cheryline D. Llama, Dr. Israeli S. Caminos, Prof. Rachiel R. Rivano, Dr. Ginalyn B. Panghula, Prof. Bobby DG. Lopez, Prof. Grace Joy A. Cipriano, Dr. Guillermo M. Sadomia, Dr. Jederich F. Balauag, and Dr. Alma Bangayan-Manera, who were assigned to the participating academic programs.

    Serving as overall coordinators and accreditors for the virtual survey were Dr. Marlon R. Pereña, who oversaw the Main, Cervantes, and Candon Campuses, and Dr. Ma. Lady S. A. Suazo, who oversaw the Sta. Maria, Narvacan, and Tagudin Campuses.

    The accreditation survey covered various academic programs across the College’s campuses. At the Main Campus, the programs assessed included the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery, which garnered Level II Accreditation, and the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education, which underwent Level I Accreditation. At the Cervantes Campus, the survey covered the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) majors in English and Science, both for Level I Accreditation. Meanwhile, the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at the Candon Campus underwent a preliminary survey visit.

    At the Sta. Maria Campus, the Bachelor of Secondary Education majors in Filipino and Social Studies underwent Level I Accreditation. The Narvacan Campus was assessed for its Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education and Bachelor of Physical Education programs, both for Level I Accreditation. Meanwhile, at the Tagudin Campus, the Bachelor of Secondary Education majors in Filipino and Social Studies underwent Level I Accreditation.

    Throughout the virtual survey, program representatives presented relevant documents, practices, accomplishments, and other evidence in response to the accreditation standards. Concerned offices and personnel also participated in the various activities and provided the necessary support and documentation for the assessment.

    The completion of the virtual accreditation survey reflects the continued participation of ISPSC's academic programs and support units in the College's quality assurance initiatives. It also provides an opportunity for the participating programs to receive professional feedback that can guide further improvements in instruction, governance, resources, and other areas of program delivery.

    ISPSC President Dr. Mario P. Obrero expressed his appreciation to the AACCUP accreditors and to the administrators, faculty, staff, and other members of the College community who contributed to the successful conduct of the virtual survey visit.

    The College remains steadfast in its pursuit of quality assurance and continuous improvement as it continues to deliver responsive and relevant higher education across its campuses. Through these initiatives, ISPSC continues to strengthen its academic programs and institutional practices, further advancing its commitment to excellence and supporting its transition toward universityhood.
