  • ISPSC fosters innovation for sustainable salt industry development

The Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College Narvacan Campus, through its INNOVASIN, the Sustainable Salt Production and Innovation Project, continues to strengthen the institution's commitment to research innovation while promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities for communities. In support with the initiative, ISPSC President Mario P. Obrero and Trade-Industry Development Specialist Ms. Arcel Mae E. Gadia of DTI Ilocos Sur conducted a campus visit, May 26.

The engagement signals interest in potential partnership, provision of necessary support mechanisms, and the possible establishment of shared service facilities to further strengthen and scale the project’s impact.

INNOVASIN underscores the vital role of academic institutions in translating research outputs into practical community applications, in collaboration with BFAR–RF01, ensuring that innovations directly benefit local salt producers while promoting inclusive and sustainable development.

From a campus-based study, it has evolved into a promising platform for innovation and local enterprise through rigorous research, collaboration, and technological approaches aimed at revitalizing the salt industry.

Under the leadership of Dr. Obrero and Narvacan Campus Director Atty. Jose Q. Cabatu, ISPSC continues to advance programs that bridge academic research with real-world application, generating impact beyond the academe. (Hannah Galutan, STRATCOM)
