  • ISPSC holds Tertulyang Pampanitikan 2026

In observance of National Literature Month, the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) conducted the Tertulyang Pampanitikan 2026 on April 21 at the ISPSC Main Campus, anchored on the theme “Bekët Panitikan: Bigkis sa Katwiran at Kalikasan.”

The activity underscored the development of competencies in poetry, storytelling, and literary research, positioning literature as a vital platform for articulating personal narratives and advancing collective cultural heritage.

A series of lectures delivered by invited experts enriched the discourse. Professor Junley L. Lazaga of the University of the Philippines Baguio discussed “Translation and Representation: Bringing Regional Literature Closer to National Discourse.” Mr. Mark Louie Tabunan of the University of Northern Philippines presented “Juan S.P. Hidalgo and the Creation of the Literature of Reason.” Ms. Estela A. Bisquera-Guerrero highlighted “Creative Writing in Ilokano: Language, Culture, and the Forging of Identity,” while Dr. Dominic Patric Galdonez of the Philippine Science High School discussed “Literary Research: Theory, Method, and Publication.”

ISPSC President Mario P. Obrero delivered a message underscoring the role of literature in preserving cultural identity and advancing intellectual discourse.

The sessions encouraged student writers to engage in reflective and research-based writing as a means of documenting and preserving the region’s literary heritage.

The activity also reinforces the institution’s initiative to establish a university literary journal through the ISPSC Sentro ng Wika at Kultura, under the leadership of Dr. Monita Pops Ambrosio. Faculty members from various ISPSC campuses likewise participated, manifesting institutional support for the advancement of creative writing and literary scholarship in line with ISPSC’s continuing development as a university.
