  • ISPSC ranks 8th overall in National Edukalidad 2026

    Students from the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) Tagudin Campus delivered a strong performance at the National Edukalidad 2026 held in Iloilo City on March 28, 2026, placing 8th overall among 29 participating colleges and universities nationwide.

    A total of 19 delegates, composed of teacher education students and faculty members, represented the campus in the national event. The competition featured key categories for pre-service teachers, including the Professional Education (Prof Ed) Quiz Bee, research presentation, instructional materials development, and demonstration teaching.

    In the research presentation category, Algen Madrid, Wella Marie Agas, and Christine Joy Millano earned 2nd place for their study titled “Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT)-ABEL Approach: Its Effects on the Level of Competence of Grade 7 Learners,” which highlighted innovative and culturally grounded teaching strategies.

    In the Prof Ed Quiz Bee, Joanna Paula Sabado, Irene Israel, and Laila De Guzman emerged as first runner-up, while Team 2, composed of Junil Madrid, Sonia Carolina Mina, and Camille F. Nabor, placed 11th.

    ISPSC Tagudin also excelled in demonstration teaching, with Ashlie Shane Lucina securing 5th place in Cluster 2 and Ana Marie Haboc placing 7th in Cluster 1.

    Meanwhile, Jefferson Uy, Emerald Hope Lazada, and Remus Eden Leal placed 4th in the instructional materials development competition, demonstrating creativity and practical application of teaching tools.

    Faculty members from the College of Teacher Education who served as coaches were Dr. Daniel Juan B. Ramirez, Campus Director; Dr. Imelda Binay-an, Dean; Ms. Gemmalyn L. Tenoc, Laboratory High School Principal; Dr. Olga Tresmanio, BPED Program Head; and Mr. Reymar G. Javillonar.

    Carrying the theme “Future-Shaping the Next-Generation Learners for a Globally Competitive Nation,” the event was organized by West Visayas State University, underscoring the continuing role of national platforms like Edukalidad in strengthening teacher preparation and recognizing excellence among future educators. (Jeric Padsing, STRATCOM Coordinator)
