  • SCUAA-PASUC 2026 culminates; ISPSC to host 2027 edition

The State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA)-I and the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC)-I Culture and the Arts Festival 2026 culminated on February 27 with closing and awarding ceremonies, highlighting unity, sportsmanship, and collaboration among participating state universities and colleges.

Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson, Hon. Shirley C. Agrupis, guest of honor and speaker, commended the athletes, artists, coaches, and organizers for their discipline and commitment to excellence.

“May we bring back to our campuses not only results but strengthened systems, stronger partnerships and camaraderie, and a clearer commitment to holistic student development,” Dr. Agrupis emphasized.

A highlight of the ceremony was the turnover of hosting responsibilities for SCUAA-PASUC I 2027, where University of Northern Philippines President Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna formally handed over the hosting duties to Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College.

ISPSC President Mario P. Obrero, together with Hon. Eric Singson, Candon City Mayor, accepted the responsibility and expressed the College’s commitment to delivering an organized, inclusive, and meaningful SCUAA-PASUC I 2027.

In his message, Obrero affirmed ISPSC’s readiness to uphold the standards of the regional games, emphasizing preparedness, fairness, transparency, and an athlete- and performer-centered experience. Mayor Singson likewise conveyed his full support and welcomed participating institutions to Candon City in 2027.

The ceremony was witnessed by Dr. Agrupis, Pangasinan State University and PASUC-I President Dr. Elbert Galas, Mariano Marcos State University President Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr., and Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University President Dr. Jaime I. Manuel Jr.

The program also highlighted the awarding of winners across various sports and cultural competitions, recognizing the dedication and performance of delegations from the five SUCs in Region I. (MVB)
