    NEWS ISPSC joins the 2025 ASCU-SN Midyear Festival in Benguet 

    A total of 317 employees from the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) participated in the 2025 Association of State Colleges and Universities - Solid North (ASCU-SN) Midyear Athletic and Socio-Cultural Festival hosted by Benguet State University (BSU) from July 14 to 18.

    With the theme “SIGED ASCU-SN: Celebrating Athleticism, Culture, and Unity,” the event gathered faculty and staff from member institutions across Regions I, II, III, and the Cordillera Administrative Region to compete in various athletic and cultural events.

    ISPSC President Mario P. Obrero, who led the college delegation, expressed full support for the college’s participation in the regional event, underscoring the importance of holistic development among employees through sports and culture.

    In a video message during the Opening Program, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis congratulated all participating institutions.

    “ASCU-SN is a strong and dynamic alliance of state universities and colleges across Regions I, II, III, and CAR. Through the years, it has served as a platform for collaboration, academic growth, and regional community,” she said.

    She further emphasized that the event is not only a celebration of athleticism and culture, but also a form of thanksgiving, noting that many institutions in the Solid North were recently included in the prestigious Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.

    Apart from ISPSC and BSU, participating institutions include Abra State Institute of Science and Technology, Apayao State College, Batanes State College, Bataan Peninsula State University, Bulacan State University, Bulacan Agricultural State College, Cagayan State University, Central Luzon State University, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Ifugao State University, Isabela State University, Kalinga State University, Mariano Marcos State University, Mountain Province State University, Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, Nueva Vizcaya State University, Pampanga State Agricultural University, Pangasinan State University, Quirino State University, Tarlac Agricultural University, Tarlac State University, and University of Northern Philippines. 

    The ASCU-SN festival aims to foster camaraderie, sportsmanship, and unity among member institutions through friendly competitions in sports and culture. (JGP)
