ICYMI ISPSC officials enhance QA competency through AACCUP seminar-workshop

To advance its internal quality assurance capabilities, four officials from Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) participated in the Seminar-Workshop on Outcome-Based Quality Assurance: An Overview for New Accreditors, Internal Quality Assurance, and Non-Academic Personnel, held in Malate, Manila, from July 9 to 11, 2025.

The ISPSC delegation included Mr. Dennis T. Millare, Director of the Office of Student Affairs and Services; Dr. Geremy Sanchez, Assistant Campus Director of Cervantes Campus; Dr. Joy G. Bea, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Tagudin Campus; and Dr. Mandy Roie Atendido, Program Head of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Main Campus.

Organized by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), the three-day seminar-workshop focused on providing participants with a comprehensive overview of the outcomes-based quality assurance (OBQA) framework, introducing the processes involved in online accreditation, and equipping future accreditors with the necessary skills in preparing reports and evaluating program compliance.

Hon. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), who served as the keynote speaker, emphasized the relevance and urgency of OBQA in today’s academic landscape. She also underscored the need for higher education institutions to align academic and administrative processes with clearly defined outcomes, measurable indicators, and evidence-based practices to ensure continuous improvement and global competitiveness.

A follow-up seminar-workshop will be held in November 2025 to introduce the transition to the new AACCUP-AQAN-aligned accreditation tool, in line with AACCUP’s partnership with the ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN).

In June 2025, ISPSC successfully passed its second external surveillance audit for ISO 9001:2015, with zero non-conformities. (JGP)
